  1. The quote "the mind is its own place and in itself, can make a Heaven of Hell, a Hell of Heaven" makes a lot of sense to me. Have you ever thought about something and realized how you take something, or handle a situation is what really causes the over all outcome? If you are handed something really bad, and just let it drag you down, it will most definately end in a negative way. But, if you make the best out of a bad situation, then it could never drag you down to the absolute rock bottom. The same goes for the other way around. Some people make any situation bad, and always make a negative out of a positive.

In the grand scheme of things, you make your ending. You decide how to handle things. If you choose to think negative, then the outcome will be the same. If you try to make the best out of a situation, then you will only make the situation better.

    1. I agree with Gabby. Sometimes I or others may take things way out of porption. Our brains work in very different ways we expect from them.

  2. The quote "The mind is its own place ,and in itself, can make a heaven of hell, a hell of heaven. The quote makes a tremendous amount of sense. Basically what I think the quote means is you have choices ,and sometimes your brain controls over the right choice. It is hard to go against the brain. So inside your brain you have many of decisions ,and depending on your fight, the way you take consideration under the brains choices is either your heaven ,or hell. If you don't have control over your brain you are making a hell out of heaven. I try to make the best decisions but, sometimes I tend to make the wrong ones at times. We are all human it's perfectly fine. It's correcting them which is the life lesson learning part. I can relate to this quote in a great way. The quote I go by every night whether I want to say this or, say that. Whether I want to do this or, that. Whether I should go to bed or, stay awake. Whether I should go to school or, just stay home. Lots of choices to choose from. We all have them. We just have to fight our brain on them sometimes. Our brain soon will adjust to our styles. Through all in all this can also relate to the story we read in English. If Andy wouldn't have went out to the store that night in his jacket would he have been stabbed? Would there be a more positive side. It's a pretty interesting thought to think about. All in all this quote has a great meaning to it. This quote can affect ,and say a lot.

  3. “The mind is its own place and in itself, can make a Heaven of Hell, a Hell of Heaven” is a very interesting quote by John Milton. He is right. The mind is very crazy and unique if you think about it. When someone pretend to hit you or hits you lightly, you might say "oww!", but then you think and you're like oh that didnt really hurt. That is just your mind tricking you. You can imagine the good, the bad, the best, and the worst. For example, if you got a call saying, "your parents have been in a car accident.." a million things are running threw your mind before the person on the phone even says the next word, like if they are okay, did they die, where are they, where were they going, you just talked to them, and ect. Sometimes the brain can be a scary thing. When you got that call you might have a part of you that just doesn't want to know what is going to come out of that guys mouth. If I am stressed out I feel like my brain hurts. I kind of have to talk to myself and calm myself down, but that can be just me because everyone thinks differently. You may think of others first but your best friend may think of themself first. And that is just the way the mind works. This quote can mean an lot of different things and meanings. And once again, everyone will think of the quote differently because that is just the way the mind works.

  4. This quote “The mind is its own place and in itself, can make a Heaven of Hell, a Hell of Heaven” could have a lot of different meanings. It would all depend on who you ask. When you ask me I would tell you it means just what it says. The mind really is its own place. It does what it wants. If you set your mind to something you will most likely do it. That’s what you have to do, that’s how you will get through life. If you wake up every day with a positive attitude and work hard life should be easy for you. The mind is itself because if you don’t work hard it’s not going to help you think. You will go crazy. The mind is a selfish thing that many people did not know that. Your mind could be doing a lot of things at once so it may seem like hell but in the end it gives you something that’s good. It could also be doing nothing so your mind has it easy and give you something bad. It’s an endless thing it’s just what your mind wants to do that day. This is what I think the quote “The mind is its own place and in itself, can make a Heaven of Hell, a Hell of Heaven” means to me. What does it mean to you?

  5. John Milton once said, “The mind is its own place and in itself, can make a Heaven of Hell, a Hell of Heaven”. I think he meant a person’s mind can think of heaven as hell and vice versa. It means a person’s mind can interpret one thing into something entirely different. If children didn’t learn basic arithmetic, they could perceive two plus two to equal three rather than four.
A Satanist could see Hell as paradise whereas a Catholic would see it as evil. It could be compared to the election with some seeing Mitt Romney as good and Barack Obama as bad, others seeing Obama as good and Romney as bad, or some seeing them both as good candidates. In history the Nazis saw the holocaust as good while the rest saw it as unethical and horrifying. When I saw the movies Battleship and Independence Day I was sad the aliens lost; my family disagreed. A wave meaning “stop” could be misinterpreted to mean “hello”. A sarcastic remark could be perceived to be ridiculing to the recipient. A signal meaning “help” could be seen as a warning. A call from a nearby ship could be seen as aggressive. In the Everlost trilogy, Mary saw the world as the womb, whereas Allie knows that Everlost is simply the afterlife. In the video game Dishonored, the Lord Regent sees assassinating the Empress as a new start for a new world order, but Corvo and the Loyalist’s only desire is to kill the Lord Regent and see the empress’s daughter and heir on the throne.

  6. The quote “The mind is its own place and in itself, can make a Heaven of Hell, a Hell of Heaven” has a lot of meanings. For example, to me, it means the mind has its own brain, and way of thinking for itself. Also it has its own imagination. Like the quote says, it can make a Heaven of Hell, a Hell of Heaven, meaning it can make something bad, into something good. It does whatever it wants. It has more power, and control over you do, then yourself. It can think of anything, and control whatever you do! The mind is a very powerful thing. It controls your actions, what you say, what you think of, everything. Also maybe it means you take something good, and turn it into bad. Like Heaven to Hell, or Hell to Heaven. Honestly i have no idea what the quote means, that's the first things that came to my head, and my opinion about the quote. Like the i said, the mind, or brain, its probably the most powerful-list thing any human has. It so unique and strange, it creates a world of its own. The mind is such a huge part of our lives, it might not seem like anything to some people, but it really is what controls us.

  7. This quote basically means that we can perceive different things differently. It all goes back to opinions. Everyone's is different. Someones ideas may seem weird to you or another person but you are never going to change the way they think and in the end it doesnt matter because its only an opinion. The mind can create anything, for the creators of the weird that seem "different" to others, they are just unique and probably think the others are weird for not thinking like them.

  8. I believe that this quote means that every situation can have three outcomes. One outcome it coould have is a good outcome were everything works out perfectly. Another outcome is that it ends on a bad note were nothing worked out and finally it can end in the middle were not everything worked out but also not everything went wrong.
This quote refers to everyday life. A good example of this quote is in the Tall Tale Heart. this book relates to the quote because he had it all planed out it was going good then he snapped and was caught and it messed up the rest of his plans.

  9. Best know for his epic poem Paradise Lost, famous author John Milton once said:

“The mind is its own place and in itself, can make a Heaven of Hell, a Hell of Heaven” I believe this means that you choose your own path and decide where you go in life. You can make yourself have a miserable life depending on your actions and how you treat others. Most of the time when people are happy and they don't have to worry about much and their mind is in a better state. Unlike other people. A lot of people don't have a great life and have to worry about a lot of things so there mind starts to get worse and eventually you will not have good thoughts and wont be happy. Sometimes you can't control when your mind starts to make a heaven hell, so all you really can do is be as happy as you can and stay away from all the bad things in life that would mess with your emotions. the mind can be a scary place. I believe that's what John Milton meant in his poem.
