I think what John Milton is trying to say in this quote is that your mind is its own world. You could think to do one thing and your body to another. Maybe at a time in your life you were mean to someone who was mean to you... You might think to yourself that you shouldn't say sorry because they didn't, but then you might of ended up saying sorry because it was the right thing to do even though you didn't think so. For example, I know I am very committed to my sports. I do everything that I can to succeed in what I'm doing during games, or practices. One summer morning last year I didn't feel good. In my head I decided I wasn't going to go because I didn't think it was a big deal... It was just one practice, even though I knew I should of went. I forgot that I had a game that night and since I didn't go to practice, I couldn't go to my game. That's just what the rules were. That day, my mind created a heaven of hell. That day, our coach watched them play and decided who she wanted to move up onto varsity so that we could start practicing with them and getting used to how they play. I missed out on the a big opportunity just because I didn't feel good an I thought it was just one dumb day. It was hell from then. I had to work twice as fast, twice as hard.
ReplyDeleteThe quote that John Milton was saying "The mind is a place of its own and itself, can make a heaven of hell, a hell of heaven" means that the mide is powrful enough to change a place that can make you feel great and fantastic into something dark and scary or it can mean that a place that can feel like heaven can be your own hell, for example a place family friendly that has people all around you and never leave you alone can be your own hell but a place that is dark, scary, and lonley can be you heaven. So what am trying to say is that your own heaen can be your hell and your hell can be your heaven and thats where the mind is powerful comes into play because the mind is so powerful that it can help escape from anything and it can be you hell from heavan because when your thinking its just you no one else and that can be heaven to some people because they may need time alone. So thats what i think John Milton was trying to say in his quote.
ReplyDeleteI agree, everybody is different. I agree that your mind can make something bad turn into good in many different situations.
DeleteI think that John Milton is trying to say your mind is very unique. It is like a world of its own. Your mind has the capabilities to think anything it wants. It can completely change your mood to. One moment you may be sad or have let something get to you the next you may be happy because you thought of something funny that had happend earlier. When he says your mind can make a heaven of hell or a hell of heaven, he means you can take the worst of things and turn it into something good. Or you can take the best of things and turn it into something bad, it is all up to you and your mind. For example, one morning the same day as a race I wasn't feeling good and something was bothering me, I didn't want to race. I wanted to stay home, but I still went anyway. Once I hopped on my bike and got up to the gate, everything that was bothering me went away. I made a heaven of hell, I didn't want to race but when it was my turn to go out all of my troubles were gone.
ReplyDeleteTo me the quote John Milton talks about you “The mind is its own place and in itself, can make a Heaven of Hell, a Hell of Heaven" stands for your mind can have its on conflicts and ideas it can turn something positive into something negative hence the "heaven of hell". For example you could be choosing over whether or not to make a decision your mind could make you think its something bad when it really doesnt have to be our minds make us over think things sometimes. Which make it seem bad. Also your mind could make you think that something bad could be good. It could under think things also and make them seem better then what they really are.It could also just be and escape route from things in the world make you escape from the real world and your problems. A mind thinks how ever it wants and it makes anything seem either very good or very bad it just depends on how you look at things your mind is just a place of its own.

DeleteI think what John Miltons quote “The mind is its own place and in itself, can make a Heaven of Hell, a Hell of Heaven” means that our mind is full of everything. That our mind has the power to change anything and do anything that we feel. Our mind at times doesn't feel the same way our body does. Our mind could be thinking another and our body wants to do something else. Our mind does a lot to you. For example one day I had basketball one day and my body didn't feel right I was sick and I knew it. But in my mind I felt like I could still go out there and perform. So while the game was going on I didn't feel sick and I was playing good with the sickness that I had. So pretty much to sum everything up the quote “The mind is its own place and in itself, can make a Heaven of Hell, a Hell of Heaven” by John Milton means all of what i just said.
