“Life does not consist mainly -- or even largely -- of facts and happenings. It consists mainly of the storm of thoughts that is forever blowing through one's head”
“Life does not consist mainly—or even largely—of facts and happenings. It consists mainly of the storm of thoughts that is forever blowing through one’s head.” I believe this quote is trying to say that life is made up of a bunch of facts because we don’t know EVERYTHING. And it doesn’t consist of happenings either because the “happenings” never stop happening. We make life as we want it to be. The thoughts running through our minds tell us what to do to change our dreams to reality. And those thoughts never go away. They just keep growing and making better thoughts, and more realistic thoughts. For example, when I was younger I always wanted to be on the stage. I never really thought I could do that and pursue it because I thought I would have stage freight. When I was nine I started drama camp. The first day I cried because I was scared but I kept it up. I have been doing drama for seven years now. I pursued my thoughts about being on stage. I never thought I would gain enough courage to do that. Now I never want to be off stage. I love it so much! Just keep those thoughts in your mind. You can make then happen. You just can’t lose hope in yourself and what you love to do. There are a lot of facts in this world but I wasn’t the one who came up with those facts. I want to make my own facts about my own life. And never stop dreaming about what I want my life to become.
ReplyDeleteThis quote “Life does not consist mainly -- or even largely -- of facts and happenings. It consists mainly of the storm of thoughts that is forever blowing through one's head." tells us that it only matters on the stuff that you think of and not only on absolute fact. Every second you think of something new, it may be different from other people's facts, its your thought alone.
ReplyDeleteMany of movies have this in work. Many of our action movies have part the main character changes his opinion about something. In a person's life is always running on opinions of each other and so find things about them. But soon those thoughts change after awhile. An example of which, two people have been friends for the past 4 years and have thoughts about themselves. Those change after they have a sleepover and really get to find a lot about each other. It only matters about how they feel about it that matters. Not to anyone but you.
A famous quote from Mark Twain is "Life does not consist mainly -- or even largely -- of facts and happenings. It cosists mainly on the storm of thoughts that is forever blowing through one's head." I believe this quote means life isn't all about facts and observations but the humans ability to ask why. Why do the seasons change? Why is the sky blue? How does this work? We ask questions to understand the world because we don't know everything and we are a curious species. its in our nature to ask questions and these questions can lead to answers or even more questions. The answers we get may become facts or get disproven later on in life. Years ago everyone belived the world was flat and you could fall of it. Now we believe we are the only sentient life in the universe so far but imagine what we would know in the future. We could have a whole new way of thinking but still not know everything. I remember the movie "MIB or Men in Black" where Will Smith a.k.a. J was just another of New Yorks finest until he runs into a strange individual Tommy Lee Jones a.k.a. K who offers him a great opprotunity to live a new life. He learns that aliens exist even though the day before he knew aliens didn't exist. A storm of thoughts went through his mind to decide to join this agency. His thoughts and ideas seemed more real than the facts he was lead to believe. He went on a number of adventures like the ones in the movie and some we don't know of but every movie revealed that what they believe in some cases are still false.
ReplyDeleteThe quote by Mark Twain says ““Life does not consist mainly -- or even largely -- of facts and happenings. It consists mainly of the storm of thoughts that is forever blowing through one's head” means that each person deals with an internal battle with thoughts, desires and feelings. Our thoughts can have nothing to do with reality. We all assume negative things are going to happen but it’s just our imagination and worries that drive us crazy. For example if you’re dating someone, sometimes you could imagine ridiculous scenario about what they could be doing without you. Our imagination can take things way of proportion. We should get the facts before we start accusing.
ReplyDelete“Life does not consist mainly -- or even largely -- of facts and happenings. It consists mainly of the storm of thoughts that is forever blowing through one's head” to me this means that life is not all about the facts you know but the complications you conquer. Growing up my sister always told me that the difference between school and real life is the school teaches you a lesson then gives you a test while in life your put to the test so you can learn a lesson. Have you ever wonder why green is called green and not blue? Why is the air clear. We wonder why all the time.
ReplyDeleteI believe Mark Twain is trying to say that our lives aren't made up of things we know or things that are happening. He is trying to say life is made from a much bigger picture, the unknown. Life is one big mystery to us, it isn't everything we know or experience. Some people may experience one thing, while others can never imagine. Everyday we learn something new, if life was what we know, than life wouldn't exist. When Mr. Twain said “Life does not consist mainly---or even largely—of facts and happenings. It consists mainly of the storm of thoughts that is forever blowing through one’s head” he had an excellent understanding of the meaning of the lives we all live. In your mind right now, what are you thinking? I’m sure there is always something on your mind, and that is life. If we knew everything and experienced everything, would we truly be living? I don’t believe it would be possible. The unknown gives you a reason to get out of your warm comfortable bed every morning and go out to learn new things.
ReplyDeleteFor example, my boyfriend likes to try and say he knows everything and went through everything already, but today he learned so many new things about life that he didn't already know. As he was learning these things he began to learn that what he thought he knew wasn't right, so he learned new stuff that became thoughts in his mind that all were added into his life. I’m sure we all face new facts everyday and new occurrences, all of these things added together make up our lives. Without learning these new things, we wouldn't truthfully be alive.
Life does not consist mainly—or even largely – of facts and happenings. It consists mainly of the storm of thoughts that is forever blowing through one’s head. As I think about this the quote is explaining it’s self. Life is about the ‘’what if?’’ or the ‘’why?’’. Life is mainly consisting of leaning from the time your born till the time you die you are learning. When you learn you ask these question and their instantly is a storm of questions in your brain. What your really get out of life is mainly what you put in it. Believe it or not the smartest people are the people who ask the most question out of all the people in the world, and they are the people with the biggest storms. The facts and the things that happen are just the conclusion or the confirmation of the thought and once that happens, it’s time for a new question. In a person’s life time they may not know everything. Because the questions are asked that’s why people stay around to find out the answer. The way this affects my life is that the quote is true. When I look at something I ask the 2 questions why, and what if. From them I think of endless possibilities and from thoughts endless possibilities I get one or two and that’s the facts and possibilities. In conclusion this quote has to do with the learning of the human mind and that we can always increase our brain storm by asking questions.
ReplyDelete“Life does not consist mainly -- or even largely -- of facts and happenings. It consists mainly of the storm of thoughts that is forever blowing through one's head”, I believe what Mark Twain is trying to say that you're brain is never stopped. It is always thinking of what is going on. The thoughts in our brain aren't facts they are questions we are asking ourselves or problems we are thinking about. A storm is crazy and face paced just like our brain is all the time, constantly thinking. We can't stop our mind from thinking.
ReplyDelete“Life does not consist mainly -- or even largely -- of facts and happenings. It consists mainly of the storm of thoughts that is forever blowing through one's head" This gives a good description of the personal experience in life. You can't tell someone what life consists of, but the quote hints that your thoughts are the major impact of how your life flows. We may experience events like learning how to do basic things in life, like learn to move, communicate, and our personality blooms everyday we live. Important events, may not happen everyday, but we think of so many things daily that may influence our actions or relate to events that we experience. Everyday we think of something new, and it's hard to believe that we only use a small percentage of our brains.
ReplyDeleteI believe that thoughts may promote actions, but we have so many thoughts that could only possibly lead to actions. Way too many thoughts, so many that it may even resemble the metaphorical storm in the quote. I can relate to the quote because I know of people that think of so many things, but never express these thoughts through actions or communicating with others. My friend tends to dwell on lots of things, like worrying about others, or specific subject matters or conflicts of interests. These thoughts swirl in her head like a storm, and she keeps them in mind. But it doesn't leave her mind. The storm of thoughts are more frequent than actual physical happenings she experiences in life.
"Life does not consist mainly-- or even largely-- of facts and happenings. It consists mainly of the storm of the thoughts that is forever blowing through one's head"
ReplyDeleteThe quote signifies a not-so-direct, but opaque meaning on the subject of life and its natures.
In alternative meaning, everyone has there own reality.
One's view of their surroundings varies from eye to eye, a plethora of perspectives that function singularly but also help fuel one another's.
What I am trying to say is that the world we experience and the life we live, are the reflections of our thoughts. Things we’re able to enjoy are given to us by this creativity. For example, arts like literature, theater, poetry, culinary, design, music, dance, sculpting, and ect. Are things that we couldn’t even imagine if they were gone or taken from us. So when you say you’re not artsy or creative just go through the list and realize this is what life is about. So when the quote "Life does not consist mainly-- or even largely-- of facts and happenings. It consists mainly of the storm of the thoughts that is forever blowing through one's head" this is what I think back to. Also, a saying from one of my favorite authors, Stephen King, “Life isn’t a support system for art. It’s the other way around.” Is a great add on to what I am trying to get my point across.
